The Coast With The Most | 2024 | About

Poole Bay is a large natural bay on England's South West Coast. The seafront is dominated by the large unified urban conurbation of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, plus smaller out-lying towns on the Isle Of Purbeck. The whole area promotes itself as "the coast with the most".

It is a place of stark contrasts, with seven miles of idyllic sandy beaches, world famous chalk cliffs and Europe's largest natural harbour, all constantly under threat of erosion; plus two historic piers in need of constant maintenance, and severe poverty next to the wealthiest area in the country - Sandbanks.

Typical of most coastal areas, it struggles during the winter months, has significant drug, crime and unemployment issues, a council facing bankruptcy, large communities of different ethnicities which don't always integrate well, and an ongoing battle between the locals and tourists.

This series, captured in 2024, explores what the 'coast with the most' means by documenting the subtle and delicate balance that exists along the coastline, and hints at the underlying problems the area faces but which are often hidden or ignored, especially by the tourists.
